IUF 2022 — Brussels

The first International Uyghur Forum took place from 9–10 November 2022 in Brussels, Belgium, co-organized by the World Uyghur Congress, Hasene International, and the International Union of East Turkistan Organizations. It was supported by the Uyghur Friendship Group in the European Parliament. The event convened over 200 participants from more than 20 countries, including policymakers, legal experts, academics, media representatives, and Uyghur civil society leaders. The opening ceremony was held at the European Parliament, with remarks from Members of the European Parliament Ismail Ertug, Raphaël Glucksmann, Miriam Lexmann, and David Lega. Discussions throughout the forum addressed the responsibilities of the international community and the European Union in responding to the genocide in East Turkistan, as well as international legal, political, and economic responses.The forum concluded with the Brussels Declaration, calling on the international community to take immediate and tangible action to end the Uyghur genocide and hold perpetrators accountable.
